3 out of 5 stars Good but has flaws   September 1, 2010
Sunny Y. Park (Urbana, IL United States)
The Ergo Caboose was new in the market when I had my 2nd child. What appealed to me MOST was the ability to put my infant baby in the rear near me as I strolled. This feature makes this stroller stand out from the rest and I really loved it. Like some other people, the front seat's back kept falling back even though it seemed locked into place. I called the Joovy Customer Service and they sent me a brand new stroller (this was a defeat in the earlier models). With my new replaced Ergo, the front seat back locks into place and stays locked. The storage compartment is really big - we could put our little cooler in there. I do love how the back area for the sitting child is covered by the canopy - this is something I don't think the other sit and stands have.

I do have some complaints about this stroller:
1. IT IS HEAVY and long! It's weight causes some other issues of steering and folding to store. You're gonna have to use those muscles to steer through the mall/neighborhood and folding/lifting it into your car. Not easy especially on a hot summer day.
2. The front canopy is flimsy and flies back if a gust of wind catches under it - why Joovy did this, I don't know.
3. When my 2nd was old enough to sit in the front and my 1st child in the back, you can feel the weight hit the tires. The attached air pump isn't easy to use on the tires. I'm still trying to figure out how to pump air into it.

Honestly, I've been going back and forth whether to sell the Ergo Caboose to get the Ultralight. I'm only 5'1 and the heaviness is a big issue.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic option for Military mommas   September 1, 2010

I'm an active duty military momma of a toddler and a newborn. I'm having to juggle working out (long walks) and entertaining my toddler. This product is incredible! I had some issues with pumping up the tires, but I contacted Joovy and they sent me replacement tires (FOR FREE) and it arrived within days~! FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!

My toddler is very fair skinned and we live in a sunny environment, so the covers are awesome. IT IS bulky, but no more than carrying normal deployment gear. I love this product and FULLY ENDORSE with enthusiasm!

5 out of 5 stars So far so good!   June 21, 2010

We will be traveling to Canada and Disney this summer and we wanted a sturdy stroller that would contain our energetic 2 year old, have room for lots of theme park gear and provide a spot for our 6 year old to hitch a ride if he gets zonked. We considered others but settled on this as we want 1 more little one and this is the only ride on stroller that allows the infant seat to be closest to the parent pushing the stroller. We took it for a test run at Walmart with 1 child and the county fair with 2. The stroller certainly does not turn on a dime but neither would a fully loaded RV, which is what this thing is! The basket is VERY accesible and holds a huge amount of groceries - I could even see us using this for a light Costco run! I figure this will be important as we navigate through the airport and we need to haul our luggage and carry ons. The stroller handled well at the county fair as we rolled over bumpy terrain - we also had everything at our fingertips. My daughter was thrilled to get in and out of the jumpseat when we needed to quickly move through mobs of people without needing to be strapped into the front seat (although the jumpseat offers a 3 point buckle). A few moms with the Baby Trend sit/stand asked me about the Joovy and, in all honesty, they looked pretty flimsy next to the Joovy. I have a Baby Trend lite sport that was good for my daughter when she was smaller but it is rickety - I figure the sit/stand model may operate in a similar fashion (?). I snagged this stroller off of Craig's list in near perfect condition(with the parent organizer!) for $125 and I am thrilled! That being said, if I didn't find it on Craig's list I would have paid full price for what this stroller does for our family. I was going to order the seat covers but the kids don't seem to mind, although younger riders that spend more time in the stroller than my 2 may prefer a cushier ride - either way the construction makes the seats easy to clean without the covers! This stroller also folds up pretty compactly and flat although it is long but our Odyssey absorbs it well. It's kind of like pushing around those car grocey carts in terms of maneuverability. As with any stroller, know what your purpose is and what features you are willing to sacrifice for those you really want. We sacrificed handling and a parent tray that could hold my iced coffee upright (the joovy neoprene can only hold beverage that have a twist cap) for room and flexibility. For these reasons I give Joovy a 5 star rating!

5 out of 5 stars This is the best designed stroller I've ever seen & I've seen a lot   June 12, 2010

AWESOME stroller. (the design is great - i'm an engineer & I would so hire whoever designed this stroller in a second - this is the most well designed stroller I've ever seen) - you think "It'd be cool if it did this...." and it DOES! where do I start. kudos to the design team! the sun shades are fantastic, the child tray is so easy to take off to clean & it rotates so the child can climb in themselves... they also have another option where you can attach 2 sippy cup holders & then you never have to rotate the child tray to let the kid climb in themselves, but it's so easy to rotate the child tray it doesn't matter to me. It has a HUGE storage area which is VERY easily accessible by flipping up the rear child seat in the back, has great extra storage pockets on the side of the stroller... a few things would've made this stroller even better. It's as easy to push as the kolcraft tandems stroller... which means, it's very easy to push/turn but you can't do it with one hand. (...like how you can push the bob & bumbleride one handed). This is the easiest to push of the double tandem strollers without being a bob or bumbleride. It's equal to the kolcraft tandem in terms of pushing. (Much lighter & easier to fold than the kolcraft tandem though!) It's so so easy to fold the joovy ergo. so easy. it's such a brilliant design. you just push two little easy things on the sides & it collapses & locks too! it is an absolutely brilliant design. not too heavy either. the only reason i didn't keep it... well there are two reasons. 1. I wanted a stroller with the maneuverability of a bob stroller. I wanted one handed pushing, one handed turning. and 2. my older child (who's 4) & would be using the sit & stand part in the back - she likes to recline & have a real seat. she gets sleepy sometimes & with this stroller, she'd have to sit on an erganomic bench (although it doesn't have a back to lay back on) or she'd have to stand.... or they'd fight over who got the front seat. actually, I think that was it, the kids fought over who got the front seat. Anyhow, some kids don't have an issue with that - I know many people who have sit & stands. this is easily EASILY the best one on the market by FAR. Those are the only 2 downsides. again, 1. although the maneuverability is awesome, it's not a 1 handed stroller, and 2. my older child would want to lean back against a seat (that's just her though) & this doesn't have that. but boy, I would totally buy this stroller for a single child (it you think you might have more at some point) b/c the storage area is just GIGANITC. This is by far and away the coolest and best stroller design I've ever seen. So many well designed parts to this stroller. Love it!

4 out of 5 stars The perfect stroller for us   May 13, 2010
M. Birnbaum
After doing extensive research and shopping- the Joovy Ergo Caboose was the best stroller for us-

Here's why-

We live in NYC and we have to walk our very tall (43 inch) 3.5 year old and newborn daughter 1.5 miles to preschool every day. We needed one that my son could fit in with rubber tires that accommodated an infant carseat with room to grow. The Joovy is a perfect workhorse for us!

The major pros

1.) The stroller has big comfortable seats- the front looks like an aeron chair- the back seat is large enough so my son feels comfortable on longer excursions. It's big enough for a very tall toddler- in many double strollers with rubber tires like the PHil & Ted, Mountain Buggy and the Bob - my son's head was over the canopy or his feet were scrunched. Kudos for the five point harness style front seat.

2.) The Shade is big, roomy and adaptable- it really covers- now that my daughter is 7 months old and is sitting in the front, this is very important- the shade is roomier and more adjustable than any stroller I've had.

3.) The storage is amazing. After dropping my son off at school- I use it as a shopping cart- I can fit up to 5 full grocery bags from Whole Foods in it- I shop with it and wheel it home.

4.) The ride is smooth- it's the only front/back stroller with the rubber tires- key to push up and down curves.

5.) The infant car seat adapter is such so the newborn faces you- this was awesome- I could tend to my baby girl while my son was hanging out in the front seat.

6.) I was pretty impressed with the ease of the fold- once you got the rhythm it's rather simple- not too heavy for a double.

The cons-

1.) when my son was in front (he weighs about 33 pounds) and my daughter was in the back- the weight distribution made it so that it was hard to push- and especially turn. Since my son is now in the back and the lighter child is in the front, this problem went away- the turning radius is not as easy as some strollers but once you get used to it- it's not bad (still 10x better than non-rubber tire strollers)

2.) The front seat is a bit shallow- given the length of the stroller- there is room for the bottom of the front seat to recede further back- If I didn't strap my son in- he would slide out very easily if we went over a bump- we learned our lesson quickly and knew that it was a temporary situation with my son in the front, but it would be nice for Joovy to adapt.

3.) The tires are hard to fill in the back- but Joovy customer service is great- we already popped a tire- they sent us another one relatively quickly.
